St. Francis of Assisi
(1181-1226)
St. Francis of Assisi was an Italian Roman Catholic
mystic and founder of the Franciscans. In 1205 he turned away
from his extravagant life and wealthy merchant family to a wandering
religious life of utter poverty. With his many followers he preached
and ministered to the poor in Italy and abroad, stressing piety,
simplicity and joy in creation, and the love of all living things.
The artwork on this T-shirt was done by Barry Moser, one of the
foremost illustrators in the country. Recently Moser took on the
task of illustrating the bible.
